• Design HVAC systems for BESS systems, including load calculations, system sizing, equipment selection, and layout planning.
• Develop fire protection systems, including fire detection and suppression, specifically designed to address the hazards associated with battery energy storage systems.
• Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and design documents using industry-standard design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit MEP).
• Perform detailed thermal and ventilation analyses to ensure optimal operating conditions for battery storage systems.
• Conduct fire risk assessments and hazard analyses to develop effective fire protection strategies.
• Evaluate and select appropriate materials, equipment, and technologies for HVAC and fire protection systems.
• Ensure all designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards (e.g., NFPA, ASHRAE).
• Keep up to date with advancements in HVAC and fire protection technologies and integrate best practices into designs.
• Prepare and review documentation to support regulatory approvals and certifications.
• Work closely with other engineering disciplines, project managers, and clients to ensure integrated and cohesive system designs.
• Participate in project meetings and provide technical expertise on HVAC and fire protection matters.
• Conduct design reviews and inspections to ensure adherence to project specifications and quality standards.
• Provide technical support and guidance during the commissioning and startup phases of projects.
• Perform post-installation evaluations to ensure system performance meets design intent and operational requirements.
