Job Summary:

The Purchase Manager/General Manager (GM) - Procurement is responsible for overseeing the procurement activities of the company, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of raw materials, equipment, and services required for pharmaceutical production. This role involves strategic sourcing, vendor management, contract negotiations, and continuous improvement of procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Sourcing and Procurement:
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of raw materials, equipment, and services.
  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, conducting market research and analysis to support sourcing decisions.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to achieve the best value for the company.
  1. Vendor Management:
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, ensuring compliance with quality, delivery, and cost requirements.
  • Monitor supplier performance and conduct regular reviews to address any issues and improve overall performance.
  • Develop and implement supplier qualification and evaluation processes.
  1. Cost Control and Budget Management:
  • Develop and manage the procurement budget, ensuring alignment with company financial goals.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement measures to achieve cost reduction targets.
  • Monitor and report on procurement expenditures, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints.
  1. Compliance and Risk Management:
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with the supply chain, including quality, delivery, and financial risks.
  • Participate in audits and inspections as required, providing documentation and support for regulatory compliance.
  1. Process Improvement:
  • Continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance.
  • Implement best practices and innovative solutions to streamline procurement operations.
  • Utilize procurement software and tools to enhance data management and decision-making.
  1. Team Leadership and Development:
  • Lead and manage the procurement team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance and professional growth.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented work environment, promoting teamwork and accountability.
  • Conduct performance reviews and implement development plans for team members.
  1. Stakeholder Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and finance, to ensure alignment of procurement activities with overall company objectives.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to understand and address their procurement needs and requirements.
  • Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes to support company growth and development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in procurement, with at least 5 years in a managerial role within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement principles, practices, and regulations, particularly in the pharmaceutical sector.
  • Proven experience in strategic sourcing, contract negotiations, and vendor management.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., CPSM, CSCP).
  • Experience with international procurement and global supply chain management.
  • Knowledge of FDA regulations and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) compliance.
