Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced IB School Reading Specialist to join our team at Teacher Pool. As an IB School Reading Specialist, you will be responsible for promoting and enhancing reading skills among students in IB schools. This is a full-time position based in Bangalore, Karnataka, India, and requires a mid-level candidate with 4 to 6 years of experience.

Qualifications and Skills

• Post-Graduate Degree in Journalism, Literature, Arts, Theatre, Communication, Education, Media Studies
• Proven experience as a reading specialist in an IB school setting
• Strong knowledge of IB curriculum and reading standards
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to assess and analyze students' reading abilities
• Experience in developing and implementing reading programs
• Familiarity with instructional technology and digital resources for reading instruction
• Passion for promoting reading and literacy among students
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and parents
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Training or prior experience with reading or storytelling is an added bonus

Roles and Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor strategies to promote reading fluency, comprehension, and interest among students in IB schools
• Collaborate with teachers and administrators to develop and implement reading programs and interventions
• Assess students' reading levels and provide targeted instruction and support based on individual needs
• Conduct regular assessments to track students' progress and adjust instructional strategies as necessary
• Provide professional development and support to teachers on effective reading instruction techniques
• Create and maintain a well-equipped and organized school library that fosters a love for reading
• Stay up-to-date with latest research and best practices in reading instruction
• Collaborate with parents and caregivers to promote reading at home and encourage a reading culture within the school community
• Work with students individually or in small groups to provide additional support and guidance in reading
