About the Role
We're looking for a skilled Engineering Leader - Backend to lead and inspire our talented engineering teams as they build next-generation, cloud-native applications. As a critical member of our leadership team, you will leverage your deep expertise in backend architecture and distributed systems to guide the development of high-performance, scalable products. This role requires hands-on technical leadership, strategic vision, and a passion for driving engineering excellence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of engineers to deliver high-quality, scalable, and robust backend systems.
2. Design, architect, and implement backend systems that meet platform requirements for scalability, reliability, and high throughput.
3. Oversee and manage multiple teams, fostering collaboration and clear communication.
4. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (product, design, operations) to understand requirements, define priorities, and deliver on goals.
5. Drive initiatives around system design, performance optimization, scalability, and maintainability.
6. Set and uphold coding standards and best practices, ensuring high code quality and efficient processes.
7. Own people management responsibilities, including performance evaluation, career development, and fostering team culture.
Required Skills and Experience
1. 10+ years in full-stack development, with a strong focus on backend engineering.
2. Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
3. Hands-on experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms.
4. Solid understanding of distributed systems and scalable system design principles.
5. Proven expertise in performance optimization, scalability, and reliability engineering.
6. At least 3 years of experience managing and mentoring multiple engineering teams.
7. Familiarity with NoSQL databases and other backend technologies.
8. Strong communication and leadership skills to effectively manage and guide technical and non-technical team members.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
- Thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
