Business Analyst Responsibilities

  1. Elicit requirements from both business and technical stakeholders and convert business use cases into stories for technical implementation
  2. Document and validate captured requirements through a formal statement of work.
  3. Evaluate, analyze, and communicate systems requirements on a continuing basis, and maintain systems processes, including the delivery of monthly status reports to all appropriate parties
  4. Collaborate with necessary business and technical resources to determine proposed project level of effort estimates and obtain approval from project approvers.
  5. Maintain the project plan under the supervision of a project manager, identifying key milestones and tracking planned versus actual task start/stop dates to ensure the project stays on time and within budget.
  6. Collect and analyze the project's business requirements and transfer the same knowledge to the development team.
  7. Develop test cases to validate requirements against as-built design.
  8. Execute test cases and document the results, working with the development team to remediate identified defects.
  9. Review and/or prepare system documentation and specifications in accordance with methodology. 
  10. Ability to lead internal teams.
  11. Defining the vision for the team’s product and creating a product road map based on this vision
  12. Suggests areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions.
  13. Facilitate requirements prioritization based on business value.
  14. Manage changes to requirements through effective use of change control processes and tools.
  15. Manage specified project objectives, project constraints (scope, schedule, cost, quality, etc.), project risk, and coordinate with project manager and other resources as needed.
  16. Ensure compliance with organizational requirements and business processes, including but not limited to, product life-cycle management, records management, and historical archiving and document development
  17. Facilitate and document key decisions made in project meetings and problem-solving sessions.
  18. Conduct a post-implementation review to ensure that all project goals were met and all activities completed.
  19. Manage multiple concurrent initiatives of various scale and priority levels across multiple lines of business.
  20. Participate in research/resolution of day-to-day production support items that arise as part of the normal course of business

 

  • Skills and Qualifications:

Required Basic Qualifications:  

  • § A minimum of five years of business analyst experience in Telecom domain (BSS/ OSS) and analytics is typically required.
  • § Good communication and presentation skills, with a high degree of comfort with both large and small audiences.
  • § Ability to analyze complex data sets, identify trends, and derive meaningful insights.
  • § Develop wire frames, workflows, use case diagrams, flowcharts, and other analysis-type documentation.
  • § Prepare impact analysis documents, recommendations, executive briefings.
  • § Intermediate SQL skills are essential for querying databases to extract and manipulate data.
  • § The candidate must be process-oriented with sound judgment, attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through including the flexibility to perform in an ever-changing work environment.
  • § Perform industry research to clarify, define, or satisfy technology or business process issues.
  • § Effective communication and collaboration between teams.

 

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in information technology or computer science
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant Microsoft applications, including Visio.
  • Knowledge of TMF preferred, especially for Leading a team and senior roles.
  • Understanding of Rest and SOAP based Web services.
  • § Work on multiple tasks at any one time while maintaining high quality standards.
  • § Ability to work with Information Technology, Development, and Business users as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • § Proficiency in other analytical tools and techniques, such as data visualization, statistical analysis and UML 
  • Proven ability to manage projects and user testing
  • High proficiency in technical writing
  • Have a very good understanding of agile methodologies. Good to be CSPO certified.
  • § Accomplished organizational, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and leadership skills at all levels.
  • § The ability to think analytically, solve problems to complex business processes, and document results. 
  • Ability to work in team in diverse/ multiple stakeholder environment and client interfacing skills
  • Understanding of Cloud architecture is preferrable.
  • People management experience is preferrable.
