We are looking for a highly driven individual for the role of Devops Engineer. 

Somebody who can be the go to person for our cloud related queries, handle cloud architecture for our suite of location intelligence applications, has a passion for continuous integration/deployment and enables high productivity through automation for the development team at Sociometrik.

Sociometrik is a geospatial data intelligence start-up based out of New Delhi, India - founded in 2019 with the mission of redefining data-backed executive decision making. We measure and quantify physical earth, built structures and human activity using multi-channel data sources like satellite imagery, smartphone mobility, web records and administrative data to power alternative data-based decision support systems for our clients.

Responsibilities and Day to Day Duties:

We are looking for an experienced devops engineer to improve software development and release lifecycle efficiencies by modernizing our processes & workflows and building and maintaining a robust Continuous Integration/Deployment pipeline.

As a DevOps engineer, you closely work with the R&D software engineering teams to make sure that their code gets integrated into high-quality, ready-to-release products. You manage the required infrastructure as well as the process to create and verify product releases. 

• Understand the current application infrastructure and drive  initiatives to evolve our current platform to increase efficiency and keep it in line with best practices.
• Define and document best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance.
• Migrate the existing infrastructure with zero downtime to a highly available, scalable one.
• Collaborate with Engineering team to improve automation of workflows, infrastructure, code testing and deployment
• Continuously improve CI/CD & infrastructure for better reliability, security, observability, performance & scalability.
• Configure automated alerts/alarms and act on any outages/incidents
• Manage permissions, backup and performance across different databases like PostgreSQL etc.
• Publish Automated Reports on Cluster Operations to leadership
• On-call support in cases of issues on production environment

You are an ideal candidate if you:

• 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Have extensive experience building scalable platforms in a production environment.
• Building deployment pipeline with Github CI (Actions)
• Experience with AWS stack
• Experience in managing AWS Load Balancers, RDS, DynamoDB, CloudFront, S3, Route 53, Lambda, API Gateway, ECS clusters, SQS.
• Exposure to setting up users, roles, security groups and other security aspects of AWS is preferred.
• Should have strong experience in Microservices/API.
• Knowledge of monitoring and alerting tools.
• Knowledge of Shell Scripting, Terraform, NodeJS, NextJS,Python is a plus.
• Understanding of CI/CD principles, Linux fundamentals, networking concepts and IP protocols
• You are self-motivated with strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.

Qualifications:

• B.Tech degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• 2+ years of Systems administrations or enterprise software development or operations
• 2+ years of experience in managing Cloud operation production environments
• Experience with project management and workflow tools such as Agile, Jira, ServiceDesk, etc.
