Job Description: MCC Electrical Engineer (Design and CAD)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer specializing in Motor Control Centers
(MCC) design and proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to join our
team. The incumbent will be responsible for designing MCC systems, creating detailed
schematics, layouts, and models using CAD tools, and ensuring compliance with
industry standards and project requirements. This role requires a strong understanding
of MCC design principles, electrical engineering expertise, and proficiency in CAD
software.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Designing Motor Control Centers (MCC) for various industrial applications, including
but not limited to motor starters, variable frequency drives (VFDs), transformers, circuit
breakers, and control systems.
2. Collaborating with project stakeholders, including project managers, electrical
designers, and customers, to understand project specifications and requirements.
3. Utilizing CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar tools) to create
detailed MCC schematics, layouts, wiring diagrams, and panel designs.
4. Developing MCC design packages, including single-line diagrams, control schematics,
interconnection diagrams, and cable schedules.
5. Conducting technical analysis and calculations to optimize MCC designs for
efficiency, reliability, and safety.
6. Ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations, such as
ANSI/IEEE, NEMA, NEC, and UL requirements.
7. Participating in design reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering exercises to
optimize MCC designs and mitigate project risks.
8. Generating Bills of Materials (BOMs), equipment specifications, and technical
documentation for procurement, construction, and installation activities.
9. Providing technical support to manufacturing, testing, and commissioning teams
during MCC fabrication, assembly, and startup phases.
10. Staying updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in
MCC design, CAD software, and electrical engineering disciplines.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
2. Proven experience (5 years) in MCC design and CAD, preferably in an industrial or
manufacturing environment.
3. Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or equivalent tools,
with the ability to create detailed MCC schematics, layouts, and panel designs.
4. Strong understanding of MCC design principles, electrical distribution systems, and
control systems integration.
5. Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and regulations related to MCC design and
electrical engineering practices (e.g., ANSI/IEEE, NEMA, NEC, UL).
6. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex technical
challenges in MCC design and integration.
7. Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in
multidisciplinary teams.
8. Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy, quality, and adherence to project
schedules and budgets.
9. Experience with simulation software (e.g., ETAP, SKM PowerTools) and PLC
programming is a plus.
10. Professional certification (e.g., PE license) and/or advanced degree in Electrical
Engineering is desirable but not required.
This job description outlines the key responsibilities and requirements for an MCC
Electrical Engineer specializing in design and CAD. Candidates should possess a strong
technical background in MCC systems, CAD proficiency, and the ability to collaborate
effectively in a team environment to deliver high-quality designs.
