A civil quality control (QC) engineer's responsibilities include: 

• Quality assurance: Planning and monitoring quality assurance procedures, and developing quality plans for projects 
• Quality control: Ensuring that construction projects meet quality standards 
• Safety: Implementing safety protocols to protect workers and the public 
• Communication: Communicating results to senior management and clients, and identifying problems and providing solutions 
• Inspection: Preparing inspection procedures, and supervising concrete sampling and slump tests 
• Coordination: Coordinating with third-party inspection agencies, and interfacing with clients on QC matters 
• Documentation: Preparing Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) based on project requirements and client specifications 

Civil QC engineers should also have good analytical skills, teamwork skills, and a keen eye for detail.
