Job Summary:

We are seeking an innovative and experienced Head of Design to lead our design team in creating outstanding collections that embody our brand's vision and values. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of ethnic wear, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to blend traditional aesthetics with modern trends. As the Head of Design, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire design process, from concept to final product, ensuring that our collections meet the highest standards of quality and creativity.


Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy:

  • Lead and mentor the design team, fostering a creative and collaborative work environment.
  • Develop and implement the overall design strategy aligned with the brand’s vision and market trends.
  • Work closely with the executive team to align design goals with business objectives.
  • Stay updated on global fashion trends, especially within the ethnic wear segment, and incorporate relevant insights into the design process.

Design Development:

  • Oversee the conceptualization and creation of seasonal collections, ensuring a balance between tradition and innovation.
  • Guide the design team in researching and sourcing fabrics, colors, patterns, and techniques that align with the brand's ethos.
  • Ensure that all designs are consistent with the brand’s identity and meet the target audience's preferences.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as production, marketing, and merchandising, to ensure cohesive product development.

Quality & Innovation:

  • Maintain high standards of quality in design, ensuring that each product is crafted with attention to detail and excellence.
  • Encourage the use of sustainable and ethical practices in the design and production process.
  • Innovate by introducing new techniques, materials, and design elements that enhance the brand’s offerings.

Trend Analysis & Market Research:

  • Conduct regular market research to identify emerging trends and consumer preferences within the ethnic wear sector.
  • Analyze competitor offerings and market performance to refine design strategies.
  • Anticipate future fashion trends and adapt designs to maintain the brand’s relevance and appeal.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work closely with the marketing and sales teams to develop compelling product stories and campaigns.
  • Present design concepts and collections to stakeholders, including executives, buyers, and retail partners.
  • Build and maintain relationships with fabric suppliers, artisans, and other key partners.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in fashion design, with a focus on ethnic wear; at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing expertise in ethnic fashion and a blend of traditional and contemporary designs.
  • Deep understanding of fabric, embroidery, prints, and other traditional techniques.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically, with a strong sense of aesthetic and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of sustainable and ethical fashion practices is a plus.
  • Innovative thinker with a forward-looking approach to design.
  • Passionate about cultural heritage and ethnic fashion.
  • Strong team player with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Detail-oriented and quality-driven.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional communicator and good at interpersonal skills.
