SECTION II: PURPOSE

To manage the store inventory/material as per plant's requirement with the objective of maintaining optimum inventory levels & minimising cost, as per RIL policies, statutory compliances and approved budgets.

Responsibilities


Policies, Processes & Procedures

  • Conduct day to day activities & follow all relevant policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
  • Adhere to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for inventory management, ensuring timely and periodic compliance with the prescribed protocols.
  • Keep self abreast with leading practices & trends and contribute to the identification of continuous improvement of systems, processes and procedures.


Store/Inventory Management & Operations

  • Perform store inventory analysis and ensure correct inventory materials are available as per plant's requirement.
  • Monitor the liquidation process of surplus and obsolete materials, including spent catalysts, in compliance with established procedures.
  • Support in ensuring continuous and uninterrupted supply by preventing stock losses, while effectively managing pipeline inventory levels.
  • Collaborate with central inventory team to enhance systems and optimize inventory control techniques for streamlined operations.
  • Manage the issuance and receipt of materials, ensuring timely availability of the right materials according to plant requirements for the respective categories.
  • Manage stock reconciliation, stock transfer and inventory documents and ensure corrective measures wherever required.
  • Coordinate with purchase department for updating purchase requisition (PR) & purchase order (PO) status.
  • Collaborate with the central materials team, site Engineering & Maintenance (E&M), and site operations team to address critical materials management issues and ensure effective communication and resolution.
  • Prepare MIS reports/dashboard for inventory modelling, analysis, etc. with clear classification on various types of materials viz. insurance, stock controlled, procure to consume, slow and fast moving etc.
  • Participate in management audit review on site materials & comply with the audit observations.
  • Ensure physical verification & preservation of materials as per SOP's.
  • Establish and co-ordinate good inter-departmental relationship with customer orientation mindset.


Safety & Compliance

  • Oversee compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements related to materials management, ensuring the store's operations are in accordance with legal standards.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Health, Safety, Environment, and Fire (HSEF) guidelines, as well as First In, First Out (FIFO)/First Expired, First Out (FEFO) methodology for materials handling.
  • Participate in management audit reviews concerning on-site materials, addressing any identified issues and implementing corrective actions.


People Management

  • Contribute insights for operational-level manpower planning, facilitating the smooth execution of store operations with utmost efficiency.
  • Ensure Store Members participate in trainings, covering areas such as chemical safety, material handling, and relevant compliance procedures.
  • Ensure all training parameters and goals are achieved, contributing to a skilled and capable workforce.
  • Guide, mentor and develop own team to take larger and complex responsibilities.

Minimum qualification, technical competencies and capabilities which are essential to execute the role. It may not be a reflection of job holder's own qualification and competencies.

  • Education Qualifications: Bachelor of Engineering or Technology (Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical)
  • Experience (Must Have / Good to Have): 2 - 9 years of experience. Experience of supply management in similar plant operations environment; Experience in relevant E&M (preferably in rotary of petrochemical/refinery) and in functions like engineering, maintenance, planning, material, automation, material handling, procurement and contracts, etc.
