PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To implement operational plan for existing & new product/ technology projects to improve plant performance by conducting new technology evaluations, providing technology and process improvement recommendations based on the benchmarking studies and supporting pilot activities & plant trials, in order to drive efficiency, safety and product innovation while adhering to RIL's Technology Strategy, central processes and guidelines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate closely with the manufacturing team to provide crucial support in achieving performance targets, ensuring efficient production processes and optimal outcomes
- Lead in providing technology-related insights and expertise during root cause analyses of intricate process and engineering challenges
- Analyze plant-specific norms, enhancing plant efficiency and resource utilization for streamlined operations
- Provide recommendations to optimize operations, catalyst performance, operating conditions, cycle time, of products and units. Spearhead the identification and definition of enhancements and upgrades in current processes, equipment, and technologies, aiming to achieve higher production capacities and enhanced process efficiencies
- Evaluate and prioritize plant enhancements for PIOs, CAPEX, REVAMP projects, aligning with strategic objectives, resulting in targeted improvements and ROI
- Evaluate technology components, assess catalysts, chemicals, and additives for tech development, leading to optimized processes and product quality
- Benchmark performance, audit internal and external plant and energy performance, fostering data-driven decisions and identification of best practices
- Generate comprehensive technology comparison reports, empowering informed decisions in process optimization and investment
- Provide technical expertise to manufacturing, driving teams towards performance targets and operational excellence
- Provide support to R&D for scale up and plant level trials. Conduct pilot studies, ensuring milestones are met, and offering insights for scaled-up implementation
- Execute commercial plant trials by validating new technologies and ensuring smooth transition from lab to production
- Create and maintain accurate simulation and APC models, enabling data-driven decision-making and predictive insights
- Implement the recommendations based on the quarterly product performance benchmarking reports and help in addressing gaps
- Support in targeted plant monitoring to enable opportunity identification and development
- Partner with cross-functional teams to implement improvements, ensuring seamless integration and operational success
- Participate in PSM activities, promoting a culture of safety, adherence to regulations, and safeguarding operational integrity
KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES
Education Qualifications - Bachelors or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Premium Institute only
Experience – 8-12+ years of relevant experience in process technology, chemical engineering, in Refining or Petrochemical Industry
