Job Title:  Fitter  (Electrical Substation)

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fitter to join our team, specializing in electrical substations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment and infrastructure within substations. This role requires a thorough understanding of electrical systems, safety protocols, and the ability to work effectively in a high-voltage environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assemble, install, and maintain electrical substation equipment, including transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and other components.
• Perform wiring and cabling tasks, ensuring all connections are secure and compliant with industry standards.
• Collaborate with engineers and other technical staff to ensure accurate and efficient installation processes.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on substation equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults and issues, implementing effective repair solutions.
• Replace or repair faulty components and parts as needed.
• Perform testing and commissioning of new or upgraded substation equipment.
• Ensure all systems are functioning correctly and meet required specifications before being put into operation.
• Document test results and report any discrepancies or issues to supervisors.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
• Comply with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
• Participate in safety training sessions and stay updated with safety practices.
• Maintain accurate records of installation, maintenance, and repair activities.
• Prepare detailed reports on equipment performance and maintenance activities.
• Respond promptly to electrical emergencies and faults within the substation.
• Perform corrective actions to restore normal operation and ensure system safety.
• Participate in on-call duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Diploma or ITI in Fitter or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in working with electrical substations.

Skills:

• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, high-voltage equipment, and substation operations.
• Proficiency in using electrical testing instruments and tools.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and schematics.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities
• Certifications: Relevant certifications in electrical maintenance and safety are preferred.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to work in physically demanding environments and handle heavy equipment.
