Job Purpose

Leading the disaster risk reduction team and carrying out disaster risk assessment and ensuring coordination with stakeholders



Roles & Responsibility

  • Identify Capacity strengthening needs and Provide technical handholding support to RF Staff, Humanitarian Roster Staff and Local Partners on Early Recovery Program.
  • Identify sectoral needs in Programs, liaise with experts and coordinate to mobilise technical inputs to field programme
  • Liaise with RF Disaster Response team to initiate detailed damage and loss assessment and support the development of the early recovery and livelihoods sector strategy focusing on resilience.
  • Ensure active involvement and participation of different stakeholders and partners in all trainings and capacity development activities
  • Support the generation and dissemination of training modules and knowledge products
  • Support the training activities related to CBDRR, early warning, livelihoods. Demonstrate good knowledge sphere minimum standards, livestock emergency guidelines standards and other key humanitarian and DRR guidelines.
  • Incorporate gender and diversity issues consistently across the RF’s Disaster management program, paying special attention to gender across all components of the program including gender analysis, gender equality, promotion, empowerment of women and girls.
  • Provide Post ToT offsite and onsite technical handholding to trainers.
  • Guide and supervise DRR and humanitarian roster staff, and ensure that training needs are met.

Team Members

Necessary:

  • Graduation / Post Graduation in Climate Change / Environmental Science / Natural Resource Management
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in working with Disaster Management Sector (especially in rural areas)
  • Experience is working with inter-agency network
  • Fair knowledge on development of community based Disaster Risk Reduction / Mitigation plan
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
  • Exposure to community mobilization and social development preparedness programs linked to health and disaster
  • Experience in training and use of participatory methodologies
  • Experience in conduct base line survey and Hazard Risk Vulnerability Assessment (HRVA) in disaster
  • Fluency in English, report preparation and presentation skills are essential
  • Experience in connect communities and emergency support providers
