Job Title: Assistant Professor - Department of Social Work (Specialization in Community Development)


Position Overview:

PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, affiliated with Bharathiar University, seeks applications for the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work, with a specialization in Community Development. We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual who is committed to excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement. The successful candidate will contribute to our mission of preparing students to become competent and compassionate social work professionals.


Key Responsibilities:

1)     Teach courses in Community Development, Social Policy, and related areas at the postgraduate levels.

2)     Develop and implement innovative curriculum and teaching methods that integrate theory and practice.

3)     Engage in research and scholarly activities related to community development, social justice, and empowerment.

4)     Supervise student fieldwork placements and research projects.

5)     Provide academic advising and mentorship to students.

6)     Participate in departmental and college committees, meetings, and events.

7)     Collaborate with community organizations and stakeholders to facilitate service-learning opportunities and community-based research.

8)     Contribute to the development and assessment of program goals and objectives.


Qualifications:

a)     A Ph.D. in Social Work with NET / SET from a recognized university.

b)     Demonstrated expertise and experience in Community Development and related practice areas.

c)      Previous teaching experience at the college or university level is desirable.

d)     Strong commitment to social justice, human rights, and community empowerment.

e)     Ability to integrate theory, research, and practice in teaching and scholarship.

f)      Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

g)     Capacity to work effectively with diverse populations and communities.

h)     Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant software applications.


Skills:


Teaching Skills:

        i.  Ability to design and deliver engaging and interactive lectures, seminars, and workshops.

      ii.   Experience in incorporating experiential learning, case studies, and group projects into the curriculum.

    iii.    Capacity to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes critical thinking and reflective practice.

     iv.   Knowledge of educational technology and online teaching platforms.


Research Skills:

        i.  Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.

      ii.   Experience in community-based participatory research and program evaluation.

    iii.    Ability to publish scholarly articles and present research findings at conferences.


Community Engagement Skills:

        i.  Strong networking and relationship-building skills.

      ii.   Ability to collaborate with community organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders.

    iii.    Experience in facilitating community needs assessments, asset mapping, and strategic planning processes.


Interpersonal Skills:


        i. Effective communication and conflict resolution skills.

      ii.  Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and community partners.

    iii.   Strong organizational and time management skills.
