Location: Chennai Function: Chassis Engineering Position Title Project Responsible : ( PR )/ SSTL PURPOSE: (objectives and scope) Guarantee within his/her relevant domain of experience and specialization, the design, development, testing, validation and successful launch of assigned components and subsystems to meet product quality, performance, environmental and regulatory requirements within program time and cost objectives. Specific Domain of Specialization: Suspension Structure, Suspension tunable components, Wheels, Tires & Engine Mounts, Brakes, Steering, Pedals – Chassis Specific Domain of Specialization: Project Responsible – Chassis • To represent the relevant function at vehicle forum and assembly plant, with the appropriate SSTLs or appropriate SSPL where necessary. • To report to Level-2 meeting • To monitor and control at BCI level for his own perimeter: modifications, packaging issue closing plan, production standard,, design KPI, risk analysis, test plan, sourcing, weight, cost convergence, style feasibility and validation. • Accountable, on its perimeter and with support of SSTL, of Cost/Quality/ Performances/Planning targets appointed to BCI • Responsible for Process feasibility, in collaboration with Manufacturing team, monitoring Plant readiness. • To monitor and control workload, resource allocation and budget convergence with Unit for CM and for all development periods. • To execute escalation process. • To manage BCI project team participation to relevant development phases. • To execute hot housing kick off and monitoring. • To support regional SSTLs in Technical Reviews and lead technical issues management, ensuring transversal alignment on solutions/root cause. • To develop response to investigations required by vehicle line (e.g. Action Letter Investigation for North America, DEX in West Europe) with the support of Unit SSTL. • For Platform and Module PR/SSTM, to keep control on technical solutions, guaranteeing the management and approval of the design changes, including quality, performance, timing, cost and weight deviations on a global basis. • In case of Program responsibilities, to guarantee coherence, commonality and coordination on a global basis. • To address the Lesson Learned applications across programs/ regions. Within his responsibilities, PR/SSTM has to guarantee the conformity to Internal Control System rules. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education: BE in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering Relevant Experience: 12-15 years in OEM and/or Tier-1 supplier Overall Experience: 15 years in automotive industry Technical Skills: Behavioral Skills: Technical expertise in relevant domain (worked on minimum 2 complete program launches) Development of component and subsystem design functional objectives (FO), DVP&R and DFMEA Good understanding of vehicle FO and inter-dependence with Chassis sub-system performance Work exposure to CAD Tools (UG/NX) to design, adapt, package for subsystem and full vehicle configuration. Work exposure to proactive and reactive problem solving and quality tools. Good knowledge of vehicle EBOM and Team Center. Exposure to design alternatives/benchmarking. Hands on experience of CAD packaging of various Chassis sub systems. Domain Specific Requirements: Deliver functional objectives in line with vehicle targets, release components in-line with STV and product grid. Meeting chassis regulatory test requirements, Ensure plant builds as per vehicle variants. Parts release in Team Center. Develop action plan for investigate bulletins and root cause issues. Validate CCD/CN’s.
