Job Summary: The Senior Civil Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of civil engineering projects, from initial design through to completion. This role involves leading project teams, coordinating with stakeholders, and applying advanced engineering principles to solve complex problems. The Senior Civil Engineer will also mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of best practices within the department.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management:
- Lead and manage civil engineering projects, ensuring they are delivered on schedule, within scope, and within budget.
- Develop project plans, including scope, timelines, resources, and risk management strategies.
Design and Analysis:
- Conduct detailed design and analysis of civil engineering systems, including roads, bridges, drainage systems, and infrastructure.
- Utilize advanced software tools and engineering principles to develop and review engineering designs.
Coordination and Communication:
- Coordinate with architects, surveyors, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
- Communicate project status, issues, and solutions effectively to clients, team members, and management
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all engineering designs and construction activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations and standards.
- Obtain necessary permits and approvals from regulatory bodies.
Quality Assurance:
- Implement and monitor quality control procedures to ensure engineering work meets the highest standards of quality and safety.
- Conduct site inspections and audits to verify compliance with engineering specifications.
Mentorship and Leadership:
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support their professional development.
- Lead project teams, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
Problem Solving:
- Identify and resolve complex engineering problems through innovative solutions and effective decision-making.
- Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for potential project issues.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare and review engineering reports, technical documentation, and project deliverables.
- Maintain accurate records of project progress, changes, and issues.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve engineering processes and practices.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of department procedures and standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field .
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in civil engineering, with a proven track record of managing complex projects.
- Expertise in civil engineering design and analysis, including knowledge of relevant software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ETABS).
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
