Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Indian Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Indian cooking techniques, spices, and flavors, and will be responsible for preparing a variety of traditional and regional Indian dishes to the highest standards. As an Indian Cook, you will play a crucial role in delivering an exceptional dining experience to our guests by ensuring that every dish is crafted with care, attention to detail, and passion.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Food Preparation and Cooking:
  • Prepare and cook a variety of Indian dishes, including appetizers, main courses, and desserts, using traditional Indian cooking methods.
  • Work with various ingredients such as spices, herbs, and grains, ensuring their correct usage and blending to achieve authentic flavors.
  • Maintain consistency in taste, texture, and presentation of all dishes, following recipes and standard operating procedures.
  • Prepare dishes such as curries, biryanis, tandoori items, rotis, parathas, and other regional specialties as required.
  1. Menu Planning and Development:
  • Assist in the creation and design of menus that showcase the diversity of Indian cuisine, including regional specialties from North, South, East, and West India.
  • Innovate and suggest new dishes to be added to the menu, while maintaining the authenticity of Indian flavors and ingredients.
  • Collaborate with the head chef and kitchen team to create seasonal specials or event menus.
  1. Kitchen Management:
  • Ensure the kitchen area is organized, clean, and maintained according to health and safety regulations.
  • Oversee the preparation and proper storage of food items to minimize waste and ensure freshness.
  • Maintain an efficient workflow, ensuring all orders are prepared on time and to the highest quality.
  • Manage stock levels, and ensure that all ingredients and supplies are available and properly stored.
  1. Food Quality and Presentation:
  • Ensure all food is cooked to perfection, with attention to detail in presentation and flavour.
  • Taste and adjust seasonings to ensure authenticity and high-quality flavors in each dish.
  • Regularly check the quality of ingredients and ensure they meet the required standards of freshness.
  1. Guest Satisfaction:
  • Ensure that each dish served is of high quality and meets guest expectations for flavor, presentation, and authenticity.
  • Work closely with the front-of-house staff to ensure timely and coordinated service, especially during peak hours.
  1. Collaboration and Teamwork:
  • Work as part of a team to ensure smooth kitchen operations and efficient service.
  • Train junior kitchen staff in Indian cooking techniques, and mentor them in maintaining high culinary standards.
  • Collaborate with the head chef and kitchen team to discuss improvements, ideas, and any challenges that arise in the kitchen.

Key Qualifications:

  • Proven experience (5+ years) as an Indian cook or chef in a similar role (restaurant, hotel, or catering service).
  • Expertise in preparing traditional Indian dishes from various regions, including curries, tandoori, biryanis, chapatis, and more.
  • In-depth knowledge of Indian spices, herbs, and cooking methods (e.g., tempering, slow cooking, tandoor cooking).
  • Experience in high-volume cooking while maintaining quality and consistency.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail in food preparation, presentation, and quality control.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with a team.

Education & Experience:

  • Culinary degree or relevant certification (preferred).
  • Hands-on experience in Indian cuisine for a minimum of [X years].
  • Knowledge of kitchen hygiene standards and food safety practices.
