Job Overview:

The Assistant Head of Department (HOD) – Food & Beverage plays a pivotal role in supporting the overall management and operation of the Food & Beverage department. This role requires a proactive, service-oriented individual who will ensure that all F&B services meet the highest standards, contributing to an exceptional guest experience. The Assistant HOD will work closely with the Head of F&B to oversee daily operations, manage staff, and maintain the highest levels of operational efficiency and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operational Management:
  • Assist in the daily operations of all F&B outlets, ensuring smooth and efficient service.
  • Supervise and support F&B team members, including servers, chefs, and other kitchen and service staff.
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to hygiene and safety standards in compliance with local regulations and company policies.
  • Handle guest complaints and feedback professionally, ensuring immediate resolution and high levels of satisfaction.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of special events, promotions, and seasonal offerings.
  1. Staff Leadership:
  • Support in training and development programs for F&B staff, fostering a culture of teamwork and excellence.
  • Ensure staff are well-versed in the menu, customer service standards, and operational procedures.
  • Assist in scheduling and managing labor to optimize efficiency while maintaining excellent service levels.
  • Conduct performance reviews, providing constructive feedback and motivation for continuous improvement.
  1. Financial Management:
  • Assist in budget preparation, financial forecasting, and expense control for the F&B department.
  • Monitor and track inventory, supplies, and waste, ensuring cost-effective practices are maintained.
  • Help develop pricing strategies and promotional offers to boost revenue and guest satisfaction.
  1. Guest Experience:
  • Ensure that all food and beverage services are delivered to the highest quality and consistency.
  • Create a welcoming and positive environment for guests, anticipating needs and delivering a personalized service experience.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest feedback and resolve any issues to ensure guest retention and satisfaction.
  1. Collaboration & Communication:
  • Work closely with the kitchen, front-of-house, and other departments to ensure efficient communication and seamless service delivery.
  • Collaborate with marketing to promote special events and enhance the brand’s F&B offerings.
  • Assist in maintaining a clear line of communication with management to address any operational challenges or updates.

Key Qualifications:

  • Proven experience (X+ years) in a supervisory or managerial role in the Food & Beverage industry, preferably within hotels, restaurants, or large-scale F&B operations.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage teams effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with guests, staff, and management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage operations, including menu design, food safety standards, and inventory management.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to manage budgets, expenses, and revenue effectively.
  • A passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences with a focus on quality, consistency, and service excellence.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Food Safety, Hospitality Management) are a plus.
  • Experience in high-volume, fast-paced environments is highly desirable.
