As the major catalysts supplier to the automotive industry, BASF will establish a separate mobile emissions catalyst, automotive catalysts recycling, and associated precious metal services entity. The new entity will be named BASF Automotive Catalysts and Recycling. The new standalone structure will operate globally and comprise of approximately 20 production sites and over 4,000 employees.
About the Role / Job Purpose
- Responsible for decision making and execution of cash management and foreign currency hedging of companies assigned under the Regional Treasury platform
- Preparation of monthly liquidity forecast reports of assigned companies
- Ensure compliance with internal and external rules and regulations and corporate governance
- Serve as expert for cash and foreign exchange management as well as money market and currency market development for assigned countries in Asia Pacific
- Provides direction enabling the team members to perform at its best
- Engage with internal and external partners to focus innovations
- Take initiatives to streamline or re-engineer treasury processes towards digitalization and best practice standards
- Represent as Regional Treasury in global and regional projects for cash and foreign currency practice standards management topics
Main Task
Responsible for decision making and execution of cash management and foreign currency hedging of assigned companies under the Treasury Services
- Monitor cash management and foreign currency exposure of assigned companies on daily basis and make decisions on cash investment, loan draw-down/repayment and foreign currency hedging. Initiate deal entries in SAP and work closely with Back Office to ensure smooth execution, settlement and accounting entries
- Keep up to date on banking products, money market, currency markets and trading systems for assigned countries. Contribute to improvement in cash and currency risk management strategies and IT infrastructure
- Assess and select trading partners for competitive bidding
- Optimize bank account structure in the assigned country and managing banking relations
Preparation of monthly liquidity forecast reports of assigned companies
- Prepare 6-month rolling cash flow forecast on monthly basis for designated companies based on business trends and working capital KPIs
- Improve continuously on forecast accuracy by knowledge sharing and contribution to global liquidity planning community
Ensure compliance with internal and external rules and regulations and corporate governance
- Strictly follow Group guidelines, policies and procedures in conducting all Front Office
- Ensure full compliance with external regulation for all cash management and foreign currency operation transactions
- Support internal and external auditing of Front Office operation
Serve as expert for cash and foreign exchange management as well as money market and currency market development for assigned countries in Asia Pacific
- Monitor macroeconomic development in assigned countries
- Monitor money market and currency market development of assigned countries and contribute to cash management and hedging strategies development jointly with CFT
- Provide advisory services to team members as well as non-treasury colleagues
Take initiatives to streamline or re-engineer treasury processes towards digitalization and best practice standards
- Review regularly AS-IS operational workflows and identify improvement areas
- Maintain relationship with internal and external business partners, identify new opportunities in operational efficiency
- Identify areas for digitalization to optimize/improve data transparency and process efficiency
Represent as Regional Treasury in global and regional projects for cash and foreign currency management topics
- Collaborate with global and regional relevant units (e.g. Treasury Middle Office, Back Office, Process Experts) in cash and foreign currency management projects
- Provide cash and currency management expertise and support to other projects as required
CRM Related:
- According to global and regional CRM guidelines, perform periodic credit risk analysis and monitor risk development and KPIs for India customers
- Responsible for and ensure quality and timely completion of periodic CRM related reports in close collaboration with local Business Units, controllers, BSSCKL team
- Proactive Order Management (market principle, excluding prepayment/tech), prompt review and actions according to guidelines
- Support global and regional CRM projects by sharing country specific CRM knowledge
- Review current CRM processes and drive continuous process improvement to maximize efficiency and maintain proper risk control
- Work very closely with Global/ Regional Credit Management colleagues for specific projects
- Liaise with the Internal and External statutory auditors for the area of responsibilities
Education:
Education: CA
Working Experience:
5 -7 years’ experience in the area of credit risk management, cash management and foreign exchange trading and risk management preferably in automobile industry
Knowledge in SAP and advance computer skills in MS Office application
Desired:
- Profound understanding and operation experience in finance and treasury such as cash forecasting, pooling, netting, bank deposits, loans, money market, foreign currency derivatives as well as local finance related regulatory framework and environment in major Asia countries
- Ability in developing and analyzing cash flow statement and liquidity forecast plans Proficient skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SAP, 360T, Fireapps, Bloomberg and Power BI
- High proficiency in English with strong communication and interpersonal skill
