Project Overview
A project manager with policy experience is sought for a policy and staffing analysis project focused on Correctional Services' workforce needs. The overall objective of the CORR Project is to ensure that Custody Operations Branch’s workforce composition and front-line organizational structure continues to meet the operational and business needs of the Division and Ministry. The current phase, Phase 2, will establish and document processes to ensure that the methodologies used for conducting both current and future staffing/workforce analysis remain consistent.
The project manager will be responsible to develop project management related deliverables, such as status reports, steering committee slide decks, key project decision documents, project plan and other common project management documents/deliverables.
The Project Manager will ensure that key project management activities are maintained, which includes:
- Identify/establish project goals, needs, and scope.
- Plan, monitor, and document tasks throughout the project.
- Ensure all tasks, deliverables, and project materials are delivered promptly.
- Manage project resources.
- Foster effective communication with stakeholders concerning project status
- Foresee and strategically eliminate/mitigate potential risks.
- Document process and progress using various project management tools.
- Ensure roles and responsibilities of project participants are clearly defined.
- Provide the steering committee with regular status updates and ensure timely
implementation of steering committee decisions.
- Synthesize project-related information for fast-turnaround briefings and updates to senior leaders as required.
- Assist project team with facilitation of group discussions among project contributors to gather and synthesize feedback.
NOTES ON COMPUTER EQUIPMENT:
The Province will provide computer equipment.
NOTES ON LOCATION:
This role can be up to 100% remote. If the successful resource is local, attendance at in-person meetings can be discussed.
- The role is part-time (average of 20 hours/week), with the precise schedule to be determined in discussion with the hiring area. Hours will fall between 0815 and 1630 ET, and some flexibility in scheduling within those hours is required. A computer (laptop) will be provided. In order to access this, the resource must be located within Alberta.
