Join NV5 Mission Critical as a Senior BMS Engineer, where you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing vital building management systems. This full-time position is ideal for someone with 7 to 10 years of experience in the industry. You will work as part of a sector-focused team of seasoned engineers, contributing to mission-critical projects across multiple regions. The position demands expertise in HVAC Systems, BMS Design, and data center design among other key competencies.


Position Overview:


The BMS (Building Management System) Manager in a design consultancy role is responsible for designing, consulting, and overseeing the implementation of BMS solutions for data centre and mission critical projects. This role ensures that BMS designs meet the operational, efficiency, and compliance requirements of the data centre and mission critical projects while coordinating with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop BMS strategies, architectures, and specifications tailored to Project needs, including HVAC, power monitoring, fire systems, and security integrations.
  • Select and specify BMS hardware, software, and communication protocols (e.g., BACnet, Modbus) to meet project goals.
  • Prepare design documents, including drawings, system schematics, and control sequences.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for BMS-related discussions with clients and stakeholders.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance during the concept, design, and construction phases of projects.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses to support project decision-making.
  • Work closely with MEP, IT, and architectural teams to ensure seamless integration of the BMS with other systems.
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors for the selection and implementation of BMS components.
  • Oversee system integration testing and commissioning to ensure functionality and compliance.
  • Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, best practices, and local regulations (e.g., ASHRAE, Uptime Institute, NFPA).
  • Incorporate energy efficiency and sustainability into BMS designs to align with green building initiatives.
  • Review and approve BMS submittals, shop drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Perform site inspections and audits to verify installation quality and design adherence.
  • Provide post-installation consultancy, including troubleshooting and optimization.

Required Qualifications:


  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • Extensive experience in BMS design and consultancy, preferably within the data center or mission-critical facilities sector.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in BMS design tools, AutoCAD, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, power systems, and control logic.
  • Expertise in BMS protocols like BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks.
  • Certifications:
  • LEED, Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or similar certifications are a plus.
  • Knowledge of Uptime Institute Tier Standards.
