Job Description

As a Cyber Technical Writer your role is to support the Cybersecurity Engineering teams by ensuring information sharing across functions and stakeholders. Collaborate with analysts, engineers, and management to document technical information, processes, runbooks, and procedures. Work with internal and external teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of requirements to translate them into policies, procedures, standards and work instructions. In this vital position, you will produce high-quality documentation to drive overall organizational effectiveness and efficiency.

Exp: 10yrs with 7yrs of relevant 

Contract term – 2 to 3 months

Responsibilities

• Write and/or edit technical documents, including policies, Standard Operating Procedures and work instructions. Develop outlines and drafts for review and approval by security engineers, technical

engineers, developers and management ensuring that final documents meet applicable operational requirements.

• Provide expertise in the creation, implementation and maintenance of appropriate policies, and procedures.

• Assist in the policy lifecycle by monitoring changes to the standards and regulatory landscape as it pertains to the organization.

• Ensure that audit narratives are accurate and up to date which includes continuous partnerships with the various business stakeholders, service owners, and control owners on quarterly assessments of dataflows, architectural flows, and process narratives.

• Design, develop, and implement technical documents, including user manuals, help documents, and tutorials.

• Perform detailed technical writing and integrate cyber security solutions.

• Compile information requirements, objectives, functions, and features.

• Gathers technical information, prepare written text, and coordinate layout and manual organization.

• Interview engineers and/or other staff to obtain workflow, processes or other technical information.

• Integrate information from functions throughout the organization to facilitate access, sharing and disseminating information with team members, internal business partners and stakeholders.

• Manage the tracking, monitoring, and document control of technical documents.

• Must have excellent organizational skills, specifically ensuring consistency in documentation.

• Ability to speak with and understand Security Engineers.

• Experience delivering documentation to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Demonstrated understanding of Cloud (AWS, GCP & Azure) data processing, hardware platforms, operating systems, databases and enterprise software applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in technology or writing-intensive discipline.

• 10 or more years of experience in the risk or cyber security field.

• 7 plus or more years of experience with the development and/or updating of cyber security related policies, processes, or standards (Technical Writer).

• Demonstrated experience in technical writing, editing, and presenting information security-related documents.

• Proficiency in information security concepts, CIS, NIST Framework (especially NIST SP 800-53), and information systems design.

• Ability to analyze laws, rules, and regulations to articulate policy guidance effectively.

• Familiarity with Industry Compliance Standards (SOC 2, ISO27001, PCI, Fed ramp, etc.).

• Aptitude for developing plans, policies, and procedures meeting regulatory compliance requirements.

• Proven experience in working in a fast-paced, agile environment with ability to meet tight deadlines - thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced security firm environment.

• Ability to convert unstructured information into structured documents in a clear and concise manner including proper layout, style, grammar, etc.

• Ability to be a creative and proactive strategic thinker while engaged in a fast-paced environment.

• Must have excellent technical writing skills.

• Must have excellent organisational skills, specifically ensuring consistency in documentation.

• Ability to speak with and understand Engineers.

• Experience delivering documentation to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Demonstrated understanding of data processing, hardware platforms, operating systems, databases and enterprise software applications.

• Ability to establish credibility and working relationships with a wide range of corporate personnel.

• Must be able to effectively communicate with varied company stakeholders utilising excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong autonomy, project prioritisation, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication skills, demonstrated through written and verbal communication.

• Proficient in preparing and interpreting flowcharts, and schedules and creating detailed processes.

• Strong written and oral communication skills.
