Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Big Data Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining our big data infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. This role involves working closely with data engineers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to support and enhance our data processing capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Install, configure, and maintain big data platforms and tools (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka).
2. Monitor and optimize the performance of big data clusters.
3. Manage data storage and ensure data integrity and security.
4. Implement and manage data backup and recovery procedures.
5. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to big data infrastructure.
6. Collaborate with data engineers and data scientists to support data processing and analysis workflows.
7. Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies.
8. Perform regular system updates and patching.
9. Develop and maintain documentation for big data infrastructure and processes.
10. Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in big data administration.
11. Provide technical support and training to team members.
12. Participate in capacity planning and scaling of big data environments.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
2. 3+ years of experience in big data administration or a similar role.
3. Strong knowledge of big data platforms and tools (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.).
4. Experience with Linux/Unix administration.
5. Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell).
6. Strong understanding of data security and governance practices.
7. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.
8. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
9. Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
10. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
11. Familiarity with database technologies (SQL, NoSQL) is a plus.
12. Relevant certifications in big data technologies are a plus.
