#Finding new talent (Talent Acquisition)

  • Identifying new talent via LinkedIn, Behance, Instagram & other networks (upskilled talent)
  • Scheduling portfolio assessment calls & finally getting on board as an OG Creator
  • Being active on the platforms above & onboarding a set number of creators every week
  • Connecting creators with Project Managers to finally be able to work & earn
  • Identifying new talent via Hot Shoe events (early talent)
  • This is a way for us to find talent early on. A 19 yr old who is still in college can go a long way with us. That’s the true potential imo

There are other ways as well which I’m gonna let you think out loud about

The underlying idea is - we should have a really strong hold on the supply of the market. The potential India has for exporting creative services in mind-boggling.

#Nurturing existing talent (Community Management)

  • Engagement on TBG WhatsApp Group, Discord, OG Creators
  • Maintaining engagement in the above groups. Helping people however we can, could be connecting with a fellow creator, sending a contact of a repair shop or suggesting them a shoot venue from our database
  • OG Creators is what we need to nurture more. Currently, it’s in the making.
  • Organizing Hot Shoe Events : Offline & Online
  • Hot Shoe works both ways, it can help us acquire new talent & nurture the acquired talent at the same time.
  • The idea is to help freelancers learn & be better at what they do - it could be done via an online workshop which is attended by 5 people or an offline Hot Shoe where thousands can learn.
  • Hot Shoe is at a very nascent stage at the moment. The opportunities are limitless. It could be as big as an IFP event or PEP (by Joseph Radhik). Creacking sponsorship deals with brands like Sony, Nikon etc.

Acquiring talent is half the job, retaining the acquired talent is the difficult part. Which is what Community Management is all about.

📽️ Eventually, Community Management & Talent Acquisition will be different individuals, followed by teams. At the moment, it needs to be driven by a single person to understand all aspects of it.

Skills that I foresee in TA

Soft skills required (can’t be easily acquired)

  • Being a people friendly person - one who can connect to the problem faced by the community
  • Mindset of Getting Shit Done / Making Things Happen (core to Matar)

Hard skills required (can be acquired)

  • The ability to connect a skill of a creator to a project (difficult to acquire)
  • Involves assessing a creator’s profile & matching them to a project that Matar has/will have for them
  • This requires deep understanding of the industry & only a person who is a creator themselves will be able to do this
  • The ability to make & manage databases (can be learnt/upskilled/acquired)
  • We’re talking about working with thousands of creators here, eventually. This will require the TA to understand how to make databases & convert our understanding of creators into Data points from which we can take decisions
