Job Description of IB Coordinator


The IB Coordinator is responsible for the overall management, implementation, and

development of the International Baccalaureate (IB) programs within a school. This role

ensures the school’s adherence to IB standards and practices while fostering an

environment that supports the academic and personal growth of students. The IB

Coordinator works closely with faculty, students, parents, and the IB organization to ensure

high-quality delivery of the IB curriculum.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Program Management:

○ Oversee the implementation and administration of the IB programs (PYP,

MYP, DP, and/or CP) within the school.

○ Ensure that the school follows all IB guidelines, policies, and procedures.

○ Act as the liaison between the school and the IB organization, ensuring

compliance with IB regulations.

○ Maintain accurate records and documentation related to IB accreditation,

assessments, and program delivery.


2. Curriculum and Assessment:

● Collaborate with teachers to align curriculum delivery with IB standards.

● Support the development, implementation, and review of interdisciplinary units of

inquiry.

● Monitor and support the assessment and evaluation processes for IB programs,

including internal assessments and the IB exams.

● Ensure that students are meeting the requirements of the IB program, including

Extended Essays, CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service), TOK (Theory of Knowledge),

and Internal Assessments.


3. Teacher Support and Professional Development:

● Provide professional development opportunities and training for teachers in IB

methodologies and frameworks.

● Act as a mentor to new and existing teachers on the IB teaching philosophy and best

practices.

● Foster a collaborative learning environment among staff to support teaching and

learning within the IB program.


4. Student Support and Guidance:

● Monitor student progress and assist with academic advising, particularly for DP and

CP students.

● Support students with IB-specific requirements, including TOK, Extended Essay,

CAS, and other project-based assessments.

● Provide guidance on college and university applications for IB students, particularly

with respect to how the IB diploma is recognized internationally.

● Serve as a resource for students and families regarding IB program expectations,

assessment, and progression.


5. IB Documentation and Reporting:

● Maintain and update necessary records and documents related to IB program

requirements, including student portfolios, assessments, and accreditation reports.

● Ensure that all necessary paperwork for IB examinations is prepared and submitted

on time, including registration and student eligibility.


6. Collaboration and Communication:

● Work with school leadership to ensure the alignment of the IB program with the

school’s mission and strategic goals.

● Coordinate with parents and the wider school community to promote understanding

of the IB programs and values.

● Serve as the primary point of contact for all inquiries related to the IB program from

staff, students, and parents.


7. Quality Assurance and Accreditation:

● Lead and support the school’s efforts to maintain IB accreditation and prepare for

any evaluations or site visits.

● Stay current with IB updates, changes in policies, and new resources from the IB

Organization.

● Ensure that all students meet the standards for IB assessment and graduation.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

● Educational Requirements:

A degree in education or a related field (master's degree preferred). A recognized IB

teaching certification (e.g., IB Diploma Programme Coordinator training) is highly

desirable.


● Experience:

Significant experience in teaching and/or leadership roles within an IB school or

similar international educational context. Experience as an IB educator or coordinator

is often required.


Knowledge and Skills:

● Strong understanding of the IB framework (PYP, MYP, DP, CP).

● Familiarity with IB assessment practices, including internal and external

assessments.

● Experience with curriculum development and interdisciplinary teaching strategies.

● Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

● Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with staff, students, and

parents.

● Ability to lead and motivate teachers and students within a collaborative, inquiry-

based learning environment.


Working Hours:  8:30 to 4:30 pm

  • Qualifications required - The candidate should have 5 to 6 years of IB experience. They should have witnessed one year of IB evaluation. Category 2 trained candidates will be preferred
  • Minimum Experience 5 to 6 years
  • Nature of work -Full time
