Database Administrator MySQL MS SQL

Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator with strong expertise in MySQL and MS SQL to design, manage, and optimize databases. This role encompasses end-to-end database management, from schema design and performance tuning to troubleshooting and data migration, as well as collaboration with various technical teams.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Database Design & Development

• Design scalable, reliable databases aligned with performance goals.
• Develop efficient SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions for MS SQL Server and MySQL.
• Implement data modeling and schema design based on project needs.

2) Database Administration

• Set up and configure MS SQL Server and MySQL environments.
• Conduct routine database maintenance, including backups, indexing, and data integrity checks.
• Monitor and optimize database performance to meet business requirements.
• Ensure robust security, access control, and compliance.

3) Data Migration & Integration

• Manage data migrations across MS SQL, MySQL, and other systems.
• Handle data transformation and integration tasks with ETL tools.
• Write scripts for data import/export processes.

4) Troubleshooting & Support

• Identify and resolve database issues, including performance bottlenecks, deadlocks, and errors.
• Provide support for database-related troubleshooting.
• Work closely with developers and IT teams to improve database interactions.

5) Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain documentation on database structures, configurations, and processes.
• Generate business intelligence reports and queries as needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Technical Expertise: Proficiency in SQL, query optimization, and database indexing.
• Database Management: Strong experience in MS SQL Server (T-SQL, SQL Server Management Studio) and MySQL (MySQL Workbench).
• Performance Tuning & Optimization: Ability to use monitoring tools to diagnose and resolve database performance issues.
• Backup & Recovery: Skilled in implementing backup strategies, transaction logs, and point-in-time recovery.
• Security Management: Knowledge of role-based access control, data encryption, and best practices in database security.
• Scripting & Automation: Familiarity with PowerShell, Bash, or Python for task automation and ETL processes.
• Cloud Experience: Understanding of cloud-based databases like Azure SQL, Amazon RDS, or Google Cloud SQL.
