Job Summary:

As the Manager - Quantity Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing all aspects of the Quantity Surveying department. You will lead a team of talented Quantity Surveyors and work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate cost management, procurement, and financial control throughout the construction projects. Your expertise will be vital in identifying cost-saving opportunities, ensuring adherence to budgets, and maintaining project profitability.


Responsibilities:


1.     Leadership and Team Management:

Supervise and guide a team of Quantity Surveyors, providing mentorship, support, and training as required.

Set clear goals, performance objectives, and KPIs for the team members, monitoring their progress and providing regular feedback.

Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, encouraging teamwork and professional growth among the team.

2.     Cost Estimation and Budgeting:

Oversee the preparation of accurate cost estimates and budgets for construction projects, considering all necessary factors and potential risks.

Collaborate with project managers to review and refine budgetary requirements, ensuring alignment with project objectives and client expectations.

3.     Procurement and Contracts:

Lead the procurement process, including the evaluation of bids and negotiation with suppliers and subcontractors to secure favorable terms.

Manage contract administration and ensure compliance with contractual agreements, assessing potential variations and claims when necessary.

4.     Cost Control and Reporting:

Monitor project costs and financial performance, identifying cost-saving opportunities and implementing effective cost control measures.

Prepare regular progress reports and cost analysis summaries for project stakeholders, providing valuable insights into project financial status.

5.     Value Engineering and Risk Management:

Apply value engineering principles to optimize project costs while maintaining the highest standards of quality.

Identify potential risks and develop risk mitigation strategies to minimize the impact on project budgets and timelines.

6.     Compliance and Regulations:

Stay updated with relevant industry regulations, laws, and standards related to quantity surveying and construction cost management.

Ensure all quantity surveying activities are carried out in compliance with legal and ethical standards.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry, with a track record of managing successful projects.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.

Proficiency in cost estimation, budgeting, and financial analysis.

Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.

In-depth knowledge of construction contracts, procurement processes, and value engineering techniques.

Familiarity with relevant software and tools used in quantity surveying and project management.
