Job Overview
We seek a highly skilled Senior Legal Officer to join our dynamic team in Chennai on a Full-Time, Fixed-Term-Employment basis. The Legal Officer is responsible for managing the legal department’s activities, providing legal guidance, managing compliance risks, and protecting the organization’s legal interests. The candidate serve as an intermediary between the company and external legal entities and represent the organization in legal matters.
Management Experience: Experience in managing legal teams, external lawyers, or other professionals is important for this role.
Location : Kilpauk, Chennai.
Experience : 5-10yrs
CTC : 7.2 to 8.4 Lakhs CTC
Key Responsibilities:
Legal Advisory:
• Provide legal advice and counsel to senior management, other departments, and staff on various legal matters.
• Review and interpret contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure the company's best interests are protected.
Contract Management:
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with clients, vendors, partners, and other stakeholders.
• Ensure that all contractual arrangements are legally sound and enforceable, and that risks are minimized.
Compliance:
• Develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance across the organization.
Dispute Resolution and Litigation Management:
• Manage any legal disputes, claims, or litigation involving the company, either by representing the company in court or by coordinating with external legal counsel.
• Assess legal risks and develop strategies for mitigating those risks in the case of litigation.
Risk Management:
• Identify legal risks and potential legal issues that could affect the company’s operations or reputation.
• Work with senior management to develop and implement strategies for risk reduction.
Legal Documentation:
• Maintain and organize legal records and documentation, including contracts, agreements, and case files.
• Ensure all legal documents are up to date and properly archived.
External Liaison:
• Coordinate with external lawyers, legal consultants, and law firms for specialized legal advice or representation.
• Act as the point of contact for any regulatory or governmental bodies.
Required Skills and Competencies:
*Legal Expertise: In-depth knowledge of corporate law, labour law, contract law, and other relevant legal fields.
*Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyse complex legal issues and recommend actionable solutions.
*Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation abilities, particularly when drafting or reviewing contracts.
Communication Skills : Excellent written and verbal communication skills, often interact with senior executives, external counsel, and regulatory authorities.
Attention to Detail : Ability to spot potential legal issues and risks in contracts, agreements, and other documents.
Problem-Solving : Strong problem-solving capabilities to identify issues and resolve them efficiently.
Leadership : Ability to manage and mentor legal teams, providing direction and support.
Time Management : Ability to handle multiple legal tasks and meet deadlines.
Confidentiality : Maintain confidentiality of sensitive legal matters and business information.
Knowledge of Industry Regulations: Awareness of the specific legal and regulatory requirements of the industry in which the organization operates.
