Role: Engineering Manager
Key Responsibilities (Must have):
- Team Leadership & Management:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of front-end engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and career development planning.
- Facilitate technical discussions and decision-making within the team.
- Technical Leadership:
- Provide architectural guidance and direction for front-end projects, ensuring scalable and maintainable code.
- Drive best practices in code quality, testing, and deployment processes.
- Stay up to date with the latest front-end technologies and trends, integrating them into our development process where appropriate.
- Project Management:
- Collaborate with product managers and designers to define project requirements, scope, and timelines.
- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality features and improvements.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to front-end development.
- Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with backend engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of APIs and services.
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers to implement responsive, accessible, and visually appealing interfaces.
- Partner with QA teams to ensure robust testing strategies are in place.
- Performance Optimization:
- Lead efforts to optimize the performance of web applications, focusing on speed, responsiveness, and user experience.
- Monitor and improve front-end application performance metrics.
- Recruitment & Onboarding:
- Participate in the recruitment process, including interviewing candidates and onboarding new hires.
- Build a diverse and inclusive team that reflects the company’s values and goals.
- Stakeholder Management
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience:
- 12+ years of experience in front-end development, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Proven experience with front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and modern JavaScript frameworks/libraries (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js).
- Experience with version control systems like Git, and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong understanding of front-end architecture, web performance optimization, and responsive design principles.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
Skills (Must have):
- Technical Skills:
- Deep understanding of JavaScript and modern front-end frameworks.
- Proficiency in CSS and preprocessors like SASS or LESS.
- Experience with RESTful APIs and integration with backend services.
- Familiarity with front-end testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Mocha, Cypress).
- Leadership Skills:
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Problem-Solving Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
Preferred Qualifications (Good to have):
- Experience with server-side rendering (SSR) and/or static site generation (SSG).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with Web Assembly, TypeScript, or GraphQL.
- Contributions to open-source projects or a strong online portfolio.
