The House keeping department takes care of cleanliness and upkeep of the Hotel premise - Public areas, Guestrooms, F&B areas. Plants are kept at various places and flower arrangements for F&B outlets, Guest rooms and Lobby are provided. The basic responsibility of the department is to ensure the comfort of the guest in a clean, hygienic and pleasant ambience. They maintain F & B linen, Room linen, Staff uniforms and Guest laundry.

The following are the sections of House Keeping:

  1. House Keeping Desk
  2. Floors
  3. Public areas
  4. Linen room and Laundry
  5. Horticulture.
  6. Facilities & Amenities in the Rooms.

House Keeping Desk:

The Desk in Housekeeping is the nerve centre of the department, and binds the whole team towards one objective, i.e. to provide prompt and efficient services to the Guest. The desk takes all the requests, complaints and requirements for the department and passes it on to the concerned personnel thereby ensuring that the service is provided within minimum time, in the prescribed manner.

The inductee has to focus on.

  • How the guest request is received
  • How they channel the services through floors in fulfilling the Guest requests.
  • Room cleaning and releasing the room for guest to occupy.
  • Blocking rooms for maintenance and ken-fix-it
  • Maintaining the minimum stock of room amenities.
  • Coordinating with the engineering department for preventive maintenance and maintenance complaints.
  • Updating Computers with relevant data as and when received from the supervisors with regards to rooms being ready for sale.

Floors:

The staff on the floor maintains the corridors and cleanliness of the rooms and they supply the amenities to the room guest as per the status of the guest eg: long staying, VIP’s, regular etc.

Public Areas:

House keeping takes care of cleanliness and healthy ambience in public area including the lobby, banquet halls, restaurants, toilets and the offices in the lobby area. Public areas comprise of all the areas which a guest can use.

  • Cleaning of all these areas is very important as a guest gets an impression of the hotel from such areas. These areas are the most frequented ones and act as a showcase for the hotel.

Linen & Laundry:

The laundry and linen team collect wash and deliver the guest laundry and staff uniforms.They make bills for the guest laundry and account for them. Laundry is the section which takes care of the requirements of washing, pressing & dry cleaning in the house itself. All the linen to be used by the department has to be washed and supplied on time by laundry. The section also caters to guests and thereby generates revenue for the Hotel, as well. However the major user of the section is Housekeeping itself for all laundering requirements of Linen, uniforms and upholstery.

Horticulture:

They maintain plants & greenery for better ambience in the Hotel. It Manages production of young trees, shrubs, ground covers, vines and grasses for use in exterior landscapes.
