Job Summary
The Business Development Manager (BDM) – Overseas is responsible for driving company growth by identifying new business opportunities in international markets. The role involves developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, partners, and clients across different regions. The BDM will work closely with the sales, marketing, and operations teams to expand the company’s global footprint, ensure successful market penetration, and achieve revenue growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Market Research & Analysis
• Conduct in-depth market analysis to identify potential overseas markets, emerging trends, and competitive landscapes.
• Analyze customer needs, preferences, and economic conditions in various regions to assess business opportunities.
• Develop and present detailed market entry strategies for target countries or regions.
2. New Business Development
• Identify and establish relationships with potential clients, distributors, partners, and stakeholders in target markets.
• Generate leads, arrange business meetings, and create strategic partnerships to promote company products or services internationally.
• Develop tailored proposals and pitches for international clients to drive sales and business growth.
3. Sales Strategy & Execution
• Implement strategies to achieve sales targets and revenue objectives for international markets.
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with potential clients and partners.
• Monitor market performance and adjust strategies to improve sales outcomes and profitability.
4. Relationship Management
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with key decision-makers and influencers in international markets.
• Provide excellent customer service to ensure high client satisfaction and retention.
• Act as the point of contact for international clients, addressing any concerns and providing support as needed.
5. Collaboration & Coordination
• Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., marketing, product development, logistics) to align business strategies with market demands.
• Work with local agents, distributors, and partners to ensure compliance with local regulations and successful product rollouts.
• Coordinate with marketing teams to implement localized campaigns that resonate with the target audience in different regions.
6. Reporting & Analytics
• Prepare regular reports on sales performance, market trends, and business development activities in overseas markets.
• Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success and identify areas for improvement.
• Provide insights and recommendations to senior management for optimizing international growth strategies.
7. Compliance & Risk Management
• Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements in international markets.
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with entering new markets, including cultural, legal, and economic risks.
Key Qualifications & Skills
• Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Business, Marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred).
• Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in international business development, sales, or related roles, preferably in [specific industry].
• Proven track record of success in developing and managing international markets and achieving revenue growth targets.
• Skills:
• Strong understanding of global market dynamics, trade regulations, and cultural nuances.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and partners from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Proficiency in market research, lead generation, and sales funnel management.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other business development tools.
