Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Professor of Costume Design and Fashion to join our esteemed faculty at PSGR Krishnammal College for Women in Coimbatore. This mid-level, full-time position requires a minimum of 4 to 6 years of relevant work experience in the field. The successful candidate will bring a strong background in costume design, fashion history, and textile knowledge to educate and inspire our students.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum 4 to 6 years of experience in costume design and fashion education or industry.
• Applicants should preferably hold a Ph.D/ NET in the relevant subject from reputed Instutuions.
• Strong expertise in costume design and creation, with deep knowledge of different eras and styles.
• Extensive understanding of textile characteristics and uses for various garment applications.
• Proficient in pattern making and the ability to guide students through the entire process.
• Skilled in fashion illustration and capable of teaching diverse techniques to students.
• Sound understanding of garment construction and the ability to demonstrate practical applications.
• Solid foundation in color theory and its practical applications in costume and fashion design.
• Ability to analyze and predict fashion trends, and incorporate this into curriculum development.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver curriculum for courses in costume design and fashion.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to students pursuing careers in fashion design.
• Conduct assessments and provide constructive feedback to students.
• Engage in academic research and contribute to the department’s scholarly activities.
• Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in the field of fashion and costume design.
• Coordinate with industry experts and alumni for guest lectures and workshops.
• Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, and other academic activities.
• Collaborate with international partner universities to enhance learning opportunities for students.
