Job Summary: Asian News 24x7 is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Sub Editor

to join our editorial team. The Sub Editor will play a critical role in ensuring the

accuracy, clarity, and quality of our news content. The ideal candidate will have a strong

command of language, a sharp news sense, and experience in content editing for

broadcast. This role requires managing copy edits, aligning with editorial standards,

and working closely with reporters and producers to enhance the channel’s news

output.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Content Editing and Proofreading

o Edit news scripts, headlines, captions, and graphics for grammar, clarity,

and accuracy.

o Ensure all content aligns with the channel's editorial standards, tone, and

style.

2. Fact-Checking and Accuracy

o Verify information, names, dates, and sources to ensure the factual

correctness of news stories.

o Work with the editorial team to fact-check live reports and breaking

news.

3. Collaborating with Reporters and Producers

o Coordinate with reporters and producers to refine story angles and

improve storytelling.

o Provide constructive feedback to field reporters on language,

presentation, and content structure.

4. Headline and Graphic Writing

o Craft clear, compelling headlines, teasers, and on-screen graphics that

capture audience attention.

o Collaborate with the graphics team to ensure visual elements

complement the narrative effectively.

5. Maintaining Editorial Guidelines

o Uphold the channel’s ethical standards and editorial guidelines across all

content.

o Ensure sensitivity in reporting on sensitive topics and adhere to media

regulations.

6. Content Organization and Workflow Management

o Assist in organizing and managing daily content workflow to ensure

timely broadcast.

o Prioritize and edit stories based on relevance and urgency, especially in

breaking news situations.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, English, or a related

field.

• 2-4 years of experience as a Sub Editor or similar role in a news channel or media

outlet.

• Strong command of English and Hindi language, with excellent editing and

proofreading skills.

• Sound knowledge of current affairs, news trends, and media ethics.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage tight deadlines.

• Familiarity with newsroom software and content management systems is a plus.

• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented

environment.
