Job Description:
A Linux System Administrator plays a crucial role in managing and maintaining Linux-based servers and systems. They are responsible for ensuring the availability, security, and optimal performance of the Linux infrastructure within an organization.
Key Skills:
Linux Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems (e.g., CentOS, Ubuntu, Red Hat) and strong command-line skills are essential.
Server Administration: Ability to install, configure, and maintain Linux servers, including web servers (e.g., Apache, Nginx), database servers (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL), and application servers.
Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash, Python, or Perl to automate routine tasks and streamline system maintenance.
Security: Implement and manage security measures, including firewalls, access controls, intrusion detection, and vulnerability assessments to safeguard the system from threats.
Monitoring and Performance Tuning: Utilize monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix) to track system performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize resource utilization.
Backup and Recovery: Develop and maintain backup strategies and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
Networking: Familiarity with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and other network protocols to configure and troubleshoot network services.
Package Management: Proficient in package management systems (e.g., yum, apt) to install and update software packages.
User and Permissions Management: Manage user accounts, permissions, and access control lists (ACLs) to maintain system security.
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive system documentation, including configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
Patch Management: Keep systems up-to-date by applying patches and updates in a timely manner while ensuring minimal downtime.
Collaboration: Strong communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and provide technical support when needed.
Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers and associated hardware.
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure uninterrupted operation.
Implement security measures, including firewalls, encryption, and access controls, to protect the system from threats.
Create and maintain backup and recovery plans to safeguard data and ensure business continuity.
Automate routine tasks using scripting to improve operational efficiency.
Manage user accounts, permissions, and access control.
Collaborate with other IT teams to support software development, network management, and database administration efforts.
Keep software packages and system components up-to-date through regular patch management.
Document configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for reference and training.
Stay current with industry best practices and emerging technologies to enhance system performance and security.
Provide on call, tickets and chat support to all of our customers.
Experience – 0-2 Yrs
Salary – CTC 15-18K + GMI + Accidental Insurance + Leaves & Other attractive perquisites
Qualification – BCA, MCA, BSC CS, BE/ B Tech CSE.
Certification – Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
