Job Description: Accounts Officer in an AIF Fund and Fund Management Entity

Position Title: Accounts Officer

Location: Hyderabad, India

Department: Finance and Accounting

Reports To: Finance Manager


Job Summary:

As an Accounts Officer at Endiya, you will be responsible for managing the financial operations of our Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs) and their Fund Management Entities. The role involves maintaining accurate accounting records, ensuring compliance with Indian tax laws, and supporting the financial reporting process. Proficiency in Tally, and a strong understanding of Income Tax and GST provisions, are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Fund and Corporate Accounting:

  • Maintain and manage the general ledger for the AIFs and the Fund Management entities using Tally.
  • Record all financial transactions, including capital contributions, distributions, investment transactions, and expenses.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, investment accounts, and inter-company accounts regularly.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

2. Financial Reporting:

  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements for the AIF and Fund Management entities in accordance with Indian GAAP (AS).
  • Prepare and submit investor reports, including capital account statements, portfolio valuations, and performance metrics.
  • Support the external audit process by providing necessary documentation and explanations to auditors.
  • Ensure all financial reports are accurate, complete, and delivered within the required timelines.

3. Tax Compliance and Regulatory Reporting:

  • Prepare and file Income Tax returns for the AIFs and the Fund Management entities, ensuring compliance with the Income Tax Act.
  • Ensure accurate and timely filing of GST returns, including GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, and annual returns.
  • Reconcile GST input tax credit and handle GST-related queries from authorities.
  • Maintain compliance with SEBI regulations applicable to AIFs, including periodic filings and disclosures.

4. Investment Accounting:

  • Assist in the accounting and reporting of investments, including valuation adjustments, income recognition, and capital gains calculations.
  • Work closely with the investment team to ensure proper accounting treatment for new investments, exits, and distributions.
  • Maintain detailed records of portfolio investments, including cost basis, fair value, and income distributions.

5. Treasury and Cash Management:

  • Monitor and manage the cash flow of the AIFs and Fund Management entities, ensuring adequate liquidity for operations and investments.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts and monitor actual versus projected cash flows.
  • Coordinate with banks for fund transfers, bank guarantees, and other banking operations.

6. Compliance and Secretarial Support:

  • Assist in ensuring compliance with the Companies Act, 2013, and other applicable laws and regulations.
  • Support the preparation of board meeting documents, minutes, and resolutions.
  • Coordinate with external legal and compliance advisors as needed.

7. Process Improvement and Systems Management:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in accounting and financial reporting.
  • Assist in the implementation and management of accounting software and systems.
  • Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for all financial transactions.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CA Inter/CMA preferred.
  • Experience:
  • 3-5 years of experience in accounting, preferably within the financial services or asset management industry.
  • Experience in handling accounting for AIFs or other investment funds is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Tally and a strong understanding of Income Tax and GST provisions.
  • Skills:
  • Solid knowledge of Indian GAAP (AS) and taxation laws.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and Telugu.
