Technical Skills required to perform the Role of Senior Design Engineer

1.    SDE should have understanding of Shear Force and Bending Moment Diagrams, as well as Deflection Diagram and Behavior.

2.    He / she should also have knowledge of Behavior of structure as a whole for small to medium scale structures and for low to medium difficulty projects

3.    SDE should know the detailed understanding of Indian Codes IS 456, IS 1893, IS 13920, IS 875 (Part 1 to 5), IS 800 and their application to design and understanding of them with behavior of structure.

4.    SDE should have in-depth knowledge of design and detailing of members such as beams, columns, shear walls, basement walls, open foundations, piled foundations, UGT and OHT(especially as per Gokani standards).

5.    SDE should be able to independently design such elements for small to medium scale projects and projects with low to medium difficulty and under guidance of PM / SPM for medium to high level difficulty and complexity projects.

6.    SDE should have in-depth knowledge of software such as ETABS, SAFE, STAAD, RCDC and ACAD. Should be able to model projects with medium to high level difficulty and complexity.

7.    Mid-level to High-level (In-depth) understanding of layouts and levels.

8.    SDE should also have knowledge of layouts of small to medium scale projects and projects with low to medium difficulty.

9.    SDE should have In-depth knowledge of loads on structures.

10. SDE should have Working knowledge of Post-tensioned structures to data provision to PT contractor.

11. He / she should have basic knowledge of concrete specifications and durability , testing of materials, constructability of structures, forwork.

12. Basic knowledge of foundation engineering and soil / geotechnical reports

Qualifications:

1.    PM should have done BE / ME in structural engineering. And he / she should generally carry a relevant experience of 3 to 6 years.
