Role Overview:
As an English Teacher for the Primary School, you will play a key role in imparting foundational language skills to students. Your primary responsibility will be to teach English to students in classes 1 through 5, developing their reading, writing, speaking, and listening abilities in line with the CBSE curriculum. You will also foster a love for literature, creativity, and self-expression, ensuring that each child’s learning needs are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teaching & Instruction:
- Teach English subjects as per the CBSE curriculum, ensuring alignment with learning objectives and outcomes for primary school students.
- Design and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that promote engagement, critical thinking, and creativity.
- Use a variety of teaching strategies, including storytelling, games, discussions, and technology, to make learning fun and interactive.
- Develop and provide differentiated instruction to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Language Skills Development:
- Focus on building students' core language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
- Conduct phonics, vocabulary building, grammar exercises, and language games to enhance literacy skills.
- Encourage reading habits through storytelling, book discussions, and reading comprehension activities.
- Help students develop confidence in verbal communication, facilitating class discussions, presentations, and debates.
- Assessment & Evaluation:
- Prepare and conduct regular assessments (formative and summative) to evaluate students' progress in English language skills.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback on assignments, tests, and projects.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress, identifying areas for improvement.
- Share feedback with parents during parent-teacher meetings and recommend strategies for further development.
- Classroom Management:
- Create a positive and conducive learning environment where students feel comfortable to express themselves.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively, promoting respect, discipline, and cooperative learning.
- Foster an inclusive classroom culture that encourages participation and collaboration among students.
- Ensure the classroom is organized, well-resourced, and conducive to learning.
- Collaboration & Teamwork:
- Work closely with fellow teachers, particularly in integrating English with other subjects like Social Science and Science where applicable.
- Participate in school-wide programs, events, and activities aimed at developing students' academic, social, and emotional skills.
- Collaborate with the school leadership team and support staff to continuously improve teaching methodologies and curriculum delivery.
- Parental Engagement:
- Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress, academic performance, and behavioral development.
- Suggest resources, reading materials, and activities to parents to support their child's learning at home.
- Participate in parent-teacher meetings and contribute to discussions about student development.
- Professional Development:
- Stay updated with the latest trends in education, teaching methodologies, and developments in the English language.
- Participate in workshops, seminars, and training programs to enhance teaching skills and subject knowledge.
- Contribute to the school’s academic community by sharing ideas, resources, and best practices with colleagues.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Educational Qualification:
- Bachelor’s Degree in English, Education, or a related field.
- B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) or equivalent teaching qualification is mandatory.
- Additional certifications or training in child development or English language teaching is a plus.
- Experience:
- 2–3 years of teaching experience at the primary school level, preferably in a CBSE school.
- Familiarity with the CBSE curriculum and teaching methods for primary grades.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent command over the English language, both written and spoken.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop engaging lesson plans and create a stimulating classroom environment.
- Sound knowledge of child development principles and effective pedagogical practices.
- Proficiency in using digital tools and educational technology for classroom teaching.
- Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for teaching young learners.
