Job Summary:
The Oracle Apps DBA is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance tuning of Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) environments. This role ensures the availability, security, and optimal performance of Oracle databases and applications, providing both proactive and reactive support. The DBA will work closely with application developers, system administrators, and business users to ensure that Oracle applications meet business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation and Configuration:
- Install, configure, and manage Oracle E-Business Suite (R12.x or later) environments.
- Implement and configure Oracle Application Server, Oracle Database (11g, 12c, 19c), WebLogic Server, and other related components.
- Set up environments for development, testing, production, and disaster recovery (DR).
- Database Administration:
- Monitor and optimize database performance (query tuning, index optimization, etc.).
- Perform routine database maintenance tasks such as backups, restoration, and recovery using RMAN or similar tools.
- Handle database patching, cloning, and upgrades in various environments.
- Manage schemas, users, roles, privileges, and security settings.
- Application Maintenance:
- Manage the concurrent processing, forms, workflow, and application tier services for Oracle E-Business Suite.
- Apply Oracle E-Business Suite patches and coordinate with development teams for customization testing.
- Troubleshoot issues with Oracle EBS modules and resolve performance bottlenecks.
- Perform system cloning and migration activities between different environments.
- Security & Compliance:
- Maintain security standards by applying necessary security patches and conducting regular audits.
- Implement database encryption, masking, and security policies to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of data.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal security policies.
- Monitoring & Troubleshooting:
- Monitor system health and performance using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) or similar tools.
- Diagnose and resolve database and application performance issues.
- Work with the infrastructure and development teams to troubleshoot and resolve application and database problems.
- Provide on-call support for critical issues and outages.
- Backup & Recovery:
- Design and implement backup, restore, and disaster recovery (DR) procedures.
- Test disaster recovery plans regularly to ensure minimal downtime during emergencies.
- Perform regular system health checks and backups for all environments.
- Scripting & Automation:
- Develop and maintain shell scripts and automation tools for Oracle DBA tasks (startup, shutdown, backups, log rotation, etc.).
- Automate routine tasks to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual errors.
- Collaboration & Support:
- Work closely with business analysts, developers, and system administrators to resolve issues and support new initiatives.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to other IT staff and end-users.
- Conduct training sessions and create documentation for the DBA and applications team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience as an Oracle Apps DBA working with Oracle E-Business Suite (R12 or later).
- Strong experience with Oracle Database Administration (11g/12c/19c).
- Proficiency in managing Oracle Application Server (OAS) and WebLogic Server.
- Experience with RMAN, Data Guard, and other backup/recovery tools.
- Experience with system cloning, patching, upgrades, and migrations in Oracle EBS.
- Hands-on experience with performance tuning and query optimization.
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux environments, including shell scripting.
- Knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for monitoring.
- Familiarity with security practices, including user management, encryption, and compliance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Oracle Certified Master (OCM) in Database Administration.
- Knowledge of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or other cloud platforms.
- Experience with integrating Oracle EBS with third-party tools or applications.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and DevOps practices.
- Experience with automation tools like Ansible, Jenkins, or Puppet for infrastructure
