We works closely with the customers in ensuring the Marine Freight spend is optimized and assist in addressing priority issues with our Shipping partners to find viable solutions.
This role supports the Freight Desk in:
- Assisting with the roll out of Global Tender
- Optimizing Marine Freight for short term rates
- Trouble shooting issues with Shipping Lines/ Forwarders
- Coming up with cost effective alternate solutions
- Monthly Rolling Forecast, Compliance & Savings Reporting
Job Description:
- Drive senior leadership at the Carriers to ensure shipping at the best freights
- Read the market through discussions with Carriers, Freight Forwarders, Shippers, Trade News and come up with proactive solutions
- Drive senior leadership at the Carriers to accommodating business requests
- Support the tender process by being the supplier interface between customer and Business units
- Support Global and Domestic Sourcing activities for Marine
- Involve in Strategic Negotiations & Contract Management. Monitor & report on the performance of vendors to ensure contractual obligations & performance metrics are met- Compliance Reporting.
- Assist with negotiating best in class short term rates and follow through on their utilisation.
- Deliver Cost Savings, Cost Avoidance & other Value Delivery Programs YoY, consistently.
- Vendor Management:
- Perform Benchmarking, identification, approvals, onboarding of targeted vendors
- Support Vendor relationship managers on various supplier related activities such as Business reviews, escalation of issues
- Supplier Evaluations/Rating & Monitoring
- Assist in project management of initiatives involving shipping lines and various BU’s
Profile Description:
- A Graduate/ Postgraduate with minimum 10+ years of experience as a Shipping Manager or similar role
- Immense knowledge of logistics operations and shipping procedures and documentation
- Hands on experience in budgeting and reporting
- Must have:
- Good leadership skills
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Good time-management skills
- Great interpersonal and communication skills
- Analytical and self -starting go getter with problem solving mindset
- Ability to deliver under tight deadlines
- Prior experience in front line shipping/forwarding in Customer Operations/Sales
- Sound knowledge of elements of Freight and surcharges and their impact on the overall transportation cost
- Good exposure to Strategic Sourcing & Procurement Operations, Vendor Management
- Experience in dealing with International Suppliers and Shipping line/Freight forwarders
- Project management skills will be a plus
- Excellent computer literacy, particularly in MS Excel (familiarity with Intermediate and advanced excel formulas) is mandatory
- Open to working in a GBS environment with multiple stakeholders and possibly in shifts
