Must Have

• People excellence
• Engineering excellence (covers planning, delivery, balancing tech debt, software engineering process excellence)
• Service/operational excellence (anyone in services companies won’t have this experience. They should’ve dealt with setting up monitoring and feedback loops for SLAs and SLOs)
• Architectural excellence (they should partner with architects and maintain excellent architecture. Look for folks who have helped move to a microservices architecture, for example)

Key Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

• The Engineering Manager will lead the overall delivery of large-scale engineering projects & programs
• Direct development and delivery phases (discovery, estimation, initiation, planning, design, execution, and releasing) of complex technology projects and programs
• Ensure delivery standards are optimized throughout the life of a software project
• Develop practical solutions to achieve program efficiency, quality, and schedule objectives. Management through metrics & KPI
• Drive key technical decisions and proactively handle risks, issues, and roadblocks to ensure successful solution delivery of the end product
• Ability to evaluate architectures
• Hiring new talent and team members from various backgrounds (technical & non-technical - Architects, Product Management, Full Stack Engineers)
• Build, develop, mentor, and guide individual’s professional development regardless of diversity, geography, and experience
• Provide technical leadership and advising on solutions, products, and proposals across the organization
• Drive client engagement from strategy planning to critical issue management
• Support ongoing growth within the account
• Contribute to mature the overall digital engineering community

Key Requirements & Characteristics

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field; Master’s degree preferred
• Background in Software Delivery Management, Product Management or Solution Architecture, ideally with 10+ years of hands-on experience
• Excellent Project Management and organizational skills in a highly technical environment
• Excellent leadership, business communication, and time management skills required
• Experience collaborating with client’s senior leaders & stakeholders
• Business Development experience with product solutions and client engagement. Experience establishing detailed cost estimates, project schedules, and resourcing plans
• Knowledge of software development/Product life cycle, methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe,…)
• Experience with planning, resourcing, and delivering large-scale technical projects
• Experience with project financial management to ensure efficient delivery management and tracking
