Job Title: Director of Physical Education

Location : Coimbatore

Reports to: Principal

Job Profile:

The Director of Physical Education will be responsible for providing leadership, direction, and oversight to the physical education department within the educational institution. The role shall involve developing and implementing comprehensive physical education programs, promoting sports and fitness activities, and fostering a culture of health and wellness among students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development:

Design, review, and enhance the physical education curriculum to align with academic standards, promote lifelong fitness, and cater to diverse student needs and abilities.

Integrate innovative teaching methods, instructional technologies, and assessment strategies to enhance the quality and effectiveness of physical education programs.

Sports Management:

Oversee the management of sports facilities, equipment, and resources, ensuring their efficient utilization and maintenance.

Coordinate sports events, tournaments, and competitions, both intra and inter-school, and provide logistical support to sports teams and coaches.

Coaching and Training:

Provide leadership and support to coaches, instructors, and staff members involved in coaching various sports and physical activities.

Conduct coaching clinics, workshops, and training sessions to enhance the skills, knowledge, and effectiveness of coaching staff.

Student Engagement:

Promote active participation and engagement in physical education classes, sports teams, intramural sports, and fitness programs among students.

  - Provide guidance and support to students in achieving their fitness goals, improving athletic performance, and fostering sportsmanship and teamwork.

Health and Wellness Promotion:

Develop and implement initiatives to promote health and wellness, including fitness challenges, wellness workshops, and health education campaigns.

Collaborate with health professionals, counselors, and other stakeholders to address student health issues and promote healthy lifestyle choices.

 

Community Outreach:

Engage with parents, community members, and external organizations to foster partnerships, promote sports participation, and support community health initiatives.

Organize community sports events, fitness camps, and outreach programs to extend the benefits of physical education to the broader community.

Compliance and Regulations:

Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, guidelines, and safety standards governing physical education, sports activities, and athletic facilities.

Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reports related to programmatic activities, student participation, and facility usage.

Requirements: Educational Qualification:

Master's degree in Physical Education (M.P.Ed.) from a recognized university/institution.

NET/SLET/SET or PhD from a recognised university

Qualification in the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or similar eligibility test like State-Level Eligibility Test (SLET)/State Eligibility Test (SET) accredited by UGC.

12-15 years of experience in physical education leadership, coaching, and program management, preferably in an educational setting.

Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor staff and students.

Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional strategies, and assessment techniques in physical education.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Passion for promoting sports, fitness, and wellness among students and the broader community.
