The Site Accountant is responsible for overseeing the financial aspects of construction projects, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, budget management, and compliance with relevant financial regulations. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records for the construction site.
  • Generate regular financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Provide financial updates to project managers and senior management.

Budget Management:

  • Develop and monitor project budgets, ensuring adherence to financial plans.
  • Analyze budget variances and provide explanations and recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Assist in the preparation of budget forecasts and revisions.

Cost Control:

  • Monitor and control project costs, identifying areas for cost savings.
  • Review and approve invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contract terms.
  • Track and report on project expenditures, highlighting any potential financial risks.

Compliance and Auditing:

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and relevant financial regulations.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.

Financial Analysis:

  • Perform financial analysis to support project decision-making.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analysis for potential project changes or new initiatives.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to improve project profitability.

Liaison and Coordination:

  • Collaborate with project managers, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth financial operations.
  • Address and resolve any financial issues or discrepancies that arise during the project.
  • Communicate effectively with the finance department and other relevant parties.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is preferred.
  • Proven experience as an accountant, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions:

  • This position is based at the construction project site, with occasional visits to the main office.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
