About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled AWS Blu Age Senior Engineer to lead the modernization of legacy applications using AWS Blu Age transformation tools. This role involves analysing, refactoring, and migrating legacy systems such as COBOL to modern architectures and languages Java microservices on AWS. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of both legacy and cloud-native application development, with hands-on experience in automated code transformation, model-driven approaches, and cloud-native deployment strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead Legacy Application Modernization: Analyse legacy code COBOL and design strategies to migrate applications to cloud-native architectures using AWS Blu Age.
• Code Refactoring: Utilize Blu Age tools to refactor and translate legacy codebases into microservices & Java, preserving business logic and functionality.
• Model-Driven Development: Implement Blu Age’s model-driven transformation approach, creating abstract models for legacy applications and automating code generation.
• Optimize for Cloud Deployment: Refactor applications to be cloud-native and optimized for AWS, using services like EC2, RDS, and Lambda for scalability, reliability, and performance.
• DevOps Integration: Integrate modernization workflows into CI/CD pipelines, ensuring seamless, automated builds and deployments.
• Performance Tuning & Optimization: Improve performance of refactored applications for cloud environments by implementing best practices in cloud infrastructure and code efficiency.
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work with developers, architects, and cloud engineers to align transformation objectives with technical requirements.

Required Qualifications:

• Experience with Legacy Systems: 5+ years in COBOL, PL/I, or similar legacy programming languages; experience with mainframes is a plus.
• Blu Age Expertise: Hands-on experience with Blu Age tools for code transformation, refactoring, and deployment.
• AWS Cloud Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of AWS services (e.g., EC2, RDS, Lambda), cloud architecture, and cloud-native design patterns.
• DevOps Practices: Familiarity with CI/CD, automated testing, and monitoring tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git, AWS Code Pipeline).
• Programming Knowledge: Proficiency in Java, with experience in transforming and optimizing complex codebases.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities, particularly in code refactoring, performance tuning, and application architecture.
• Communication & Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and clients.

Preferred Qualifications:

• AWS Certification (Solutions Architect, Developer, etc.)
• AWS Blu Age L3 certification
• Experience with model-driven development tools
• Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies
