Job Description: Verification Tech Lead

Position Title: Verification Tech Lead

Location: Bengaluru

Company Overview:

AIsemiCon is known for its innovative solutions that push the boundaries of technology. We are seeking a talented Verification Tech Lead to join our team and help ensure the quality and performance of our next-generation products. In this role, you will lead a team of verification engineers in the execution of complex verification strategies for high-performance silicon and system-on-chip (SoC) designs.

Position Overview:

The Verification Tech Lead will be responsible for leading and driving the verification strategy and execution for complex silicon designs, including digital, analog, and mixed-signal components. You will leverage your deep technical expertise and leadership skills to mentor a team of engineers, create efficient verification plans, and ensure that designs meet the highest standards of quality before tape-out. This position requires a combination of advanced verification knowledge, strong technical leadership, and a proven track record of successful verification in high-complexity projects.

As the Verification Tech Lead, you will collaborate closely with architecture, design, and validation teams to ensure the thorough verification of chip functionality, performance, and reliability. You will also contribute to continuous process improvements, utilizing cutting-edge verification tools and methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Verification Leadership and Strategy:

  • Lead the development and execution of comprehensive verification strategies for complex silicon and system designs.
  • Define and drive verification methodology and best practices across the team, ensuring the adoption of efficient and effective approaches.
  • Provide technical leadership to the verification team, guiding them through challenging issues and providing solutions to complex verification problems.

2. Team Management and Mentorship:

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of verification engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
  • Promote continuous learning and development within the team by sharing knowledge, conducting design and verification reviews, and providing career development support.
  • Establish clear goals and deliverables for the team, ensuring successful execution of verification plans within timelines.

3. Verification Planning and Execution:

  • Develop detailed verification plans, including testbench architecture, coverage metrics, and simulation strategies, to ensure full functional coverage and performance validation.
  • Oversee the execution of verification tasks, tracking progress and addressing any issues or roadblocks in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all verification activities (e.g., functional, corner-case, regression testing) are executed efficiently and thoroughly.

4. Tool and Methodology Development:

  • Drive the selection and implementation of verification tools and frameworks, ensuring the team is equipped with the best resources for efficient verification.
  • Develop and improve automation scripts, reusable verification components, and custom methodologies to streamline the verification process and enhance productivity.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest verification methodologies (e.g., UVM, formal verification, emulation) and tools, ensuring the team adopts cutting-edge approaches.

5. Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with design, architecture, and post-silicon teams to define verification requirements and ensure seamless integration of verification and design flows.
  • Collaborate with the broader engineering teams to understand product requirements and specifications, translating them into actionable verification tasks.
  • Communicate verification status, progress, and issues to senior management and stakeholders.

6. Post-Silicon Validation Support:

  • Support the post-silicon validation team by helping troubleshoot and resolve any issues identified in the lab.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers during the bring-up phase to ensure that verification findings are captured and addressed in real-world testing.

7. Continuous Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and implement improvements to increase efficiency and reduce verification time.
  • Lead efforts to improve the overall quality of the verification process, including increasing automation, enhancing coverage, and reducing debug time.
  • Contribute to the creation and refinement of verification methodologies to improve first-pass silicon success.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. A Ph.D. is a plus.

Experience:

  • 12+ years of hands-on experience in verification, with at least 3+ years in a leadership or technical lead role.
  • Proven experience with complex chip and SoC verification, including digital, analog, and mixed-signal domains.
  • Expertise in using industry-standard verification tools such as UVM, SystemVerilog, VCS, NC-Sim, ModelSim, or similar tools.
  • Extensive experience with verification planning, testbench development, and coverage-driven verification.
  • Strong track record of leading successful verification efforts for complex semiconductor designs, ideally for first-pass silicon.
  • Experience with formal verification, emulation, or FPGA-based prototyping is a plus.

Technical Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of verification methodologies (e.g., UVM, assertion-based verification, random stimulus generation).
  • Expertise in SystemVerilog and UVM-based testbenches, including custom component creation and transaction-level modeling.
  • Familiarity with mixed-signal verification tools and techniques (e.g., Verilog-AMS, VHDL-AMS).
  • Strong understanding of RTL design, timing analysis, and simulation strategies.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl, TCL) for automation and flow integration.
  • Knowledge of debugging tools (e.g., waveform viewers, debuggers) and ability to efficiently analyze simulation results.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in leading verification for AI, machine learning, or high-performance computing chips.
  • Expertise in formal verification or coverage-driven verification.
  • Experience with post-silicon debug and working with lab equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, logic analyzers).
  • Familiarity with hardware emulation platforms such as Cadence Palladium or Mentor Veloce.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge semiconductor technologies and innovations.
  • Dynamic, collaborative, and growth-oriented work environment.
  • Career development opportunities, including leadership training and mentorship.
