Position Title: Subject Lead – Science

Grade/Level:

Position reporting to: PMO / Academic Head



Key Responsibilities

The Subject Lead for Science will drive the academic and instructional strategy for the Virtual School program, focusing on three key objectives:

  • Global Best Practices – Create and/or adopt globally recognized practices for virtual science education.
  • Student Learning and Remediation – Deliver engaging, impactful science education while providing targeted remediation for students as needed.
  • Professional Development – Facilitate the professional development of teachers equipping them to excel in teaching science in virtual and blended learning environments.

The role encompasses educational strategy and curriculum development, training, EdTech evaluation, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.


Responsibilities:

  • Instructional and Academic Strategy
  • Design, develop and implement science-specific instructional methodologies tailored for virtual and blended learning environments for the above three objectives.
  • Refine and adapt teaching strategies to achieve excellence in science education, integrating global best practices.
  • Curriculum Development and Delivery
  • Design or adapt comprehensive science curricula that align with international standards and local requirements.
  • Incorporate practical, hands-on activities, simulations, and multimedia to enhance virtual learning experiences.
  • Implement remediation programs to address gaps in students’ understanding of science concepts.
  • EdTech Evaluation and Integration
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend EdTech tools and platforms to enhance science instruction and learning. This could include functional tools and content recommendation for integration.
  • Integrate these tools into the Virtual School setup while ensuring compatibility with the expected infrastructure.
  • Quality Assurance, Monitoring and Report
  • Establish performance benchmarks and monitor the effectiveness of the science program.
  • Use feedback from students, teachers, and stakeholders to refine and improve instructional strategies.
  • Regularly monitor and assess the implementation of the academic and instructional strategies in the Virtual School.
  • Regularly evaluate project outcomes against predefined KPIs and prepare comprehensive reports for project lead, the Steering Committee, and Board.
  • Collaboration and Leadership
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure a cohesive approach to virtual science education.
  • Represent the Virtual School program in discussions with stakeholders and external partners.
  • Professional Development [Training]
  • Conduct tailored training sessions and workshops to enhance teachers’ skills in virtual science instruction.
  • Mentor teachers to adopt innovative pedagogies and effectively use EdTech tools.
  • Create collaborative platforms for teachers to share best practices and learning resources.


Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Required:
  • Post Graduate in Science with proficient subject matter expertise.
  • Master / Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.)

Experience

  • Required:
  • 6 to 8 years in curriculum design, teaching, or educational content development, with specific experience in EdTech or digital content. K-12 curriculum experience is preferred.
  • Proven expertise in virtual or blended learning environments.
  • Proven expertise in designing and executing professional development programs.
